背景（或现状）：美国国际教育学会的年度报告表明，2009—2010 学年在美国学习的中国学生人数激增 30% ，达到近 12.8 国际教育学会执行副总裁佩姬-布卢门撒尔说：”来自中国的学生数量猛增，是因为中国经济在迅猛发展
纽约大学国际学生和学者办公室主任戴维奥斯特尔说，中国大学生主要来自中国沿海大城市。他说，因为他们没有资格获得像美国学生那样的财政援助，所以往往要支付全额学费 ,他们的人数日益增多，不过是有更多中国家庭拥有雄厚经济实力的标志。据统计，中国公民在美国的国际学生中占19%左右，这一比例高于其他任何国家 印度和韩国占据第二和第三位，分别达到15%和10%左右。 （据新华网） 2011至2012学年中国赴美留学人数接近20万

自费出国留学人数占主流
美国只是中国留学生走出国门的其中一个选择。近年来，中国出国留学人数逐年递增，已成为世界留学生输出大国。
在留学生中，有公费和自费之分。20世纪80年代至90年代末，中国一年只有几千人出国留学，而且大部分是公费留学生。进入21世纪后，公费出国留学生只有小幅增加，但自费出国留学人数大幅攀升。
（原因分析）
美国国际教育研究所高级顾问布鲁门萨尔认为，中国留学生激增的真正驱动力是中产阶级在中国的兴起，现在中国的父母有钱送他们的孩子到世界各地最好的大学。她认为，中国的独生子女政策意味着不止是这些留学生的父母，还有他们的爷爷奶奶外公外婆也会支持他们留学的费用。除此之外，近两年中国公派美国留学的名额大幅增加以及美国高等院校文凭在中国得到广泛认可等也是中国留美学生增加的重要原因。
教育学者熊丙奇分析留学热的现象，认为最主要的原因还是整个社会对我国考试制度和教育质量比较失望。
“一方面，近几年国内应试教育的趋势越来越明显，虽然高等教育的规模在扩大，
录取率在提高，但高考竞争的压力导致基础教育对学生应试教育的倾向反而加强。学生不堪重负，越来越多的家庭觉得这样的重负对学生的个性发展、兴趣发展并没有好处，学生沦为学习的工具，十三四岁的孩子为了学习居然要喝咖啡，人格和身心都产生了问题。另一方面，对国内的高等教育也普遍不满意，学生在大学形同混日子，‘空心化’严重。这些因素交织在一起，很多家庭就开始考虑另外的选择了。”熊丙奇说。

美国目前是世界上的贸易金融大国，其 GDP 总量达到世界第一，经济的发达带动着教育的发展，美国教育的实力雄厚。近年来，中国的经济也取得了不小的发展，随着人们收入的提高，对于教育等方面的投入也不断增加，从 20 世纪 90 年代末至今，中国学生去美国留学可以说是一大热门。本文意在通过计量经济学方法，将对我国每年赴美留学生数量的因素进行科学的分析。
一、研究方法和数据来源

本模型使用时间序列数据，并且在经过大量分析比较之后我们收集了相关数据。数据来源于国家统计局中国经济统计年鉴 2008、美国驻华大使馆、我国外汇管理局网站。

趋势，而我国每年留学生数量则呈现明显的上升趋势，但在02-04 年呈现明显的下降。
我国每年赴美留学生数量和人均GDP 之间存在协整关系。（所谓协整关系可理解为两变量间具有长期稳定关系。）
结论
1、主要结论
我国每年赴美留学生数量和人均GDP、学费之间存在着协整关系尽管在短期内， 我国每年赴美留学生数量和人均GDP、学费之间存在波动关系，但是从长期来看，我国每年赴美留学生数量和人均 GDP、学费之间存在长期稳定的均衡关系。
2、其他结论
由上述结论我们可以看出，我国经济的发展，人均 GDP的增多，现有的教育资源无法满足人们的需求，直接导致了赴美留学人数的增多，此外，学费也是制约了赴美留学生数 量的变化，当然，这种学费的制约主要是运用汇率来反映的。
