书面表达是天津中考英语每年的必考项，虽然只有15分的分值，但对于不同层次的学生而言，这15分是最能拉开差距的一项。
纵览天津市近三年中考，从08年“庆祝母亲节”，到09年的“读好书，促成长”，再到10年的“为有烦恼的朋友写回信”，似乎每一年的考题都在尽可能的贴近学生的日常学习和生活。近三年的中考书面表达，都是以表格的形式给出相应的信息，要求考生通过对信息的理解和整合，写成自己的文章，这里考察考生如下能力：
1.获取信息的能力。对于同一个表格，不同的孩子能够解读出的内容不尽相同，可放到考试中，每一个解读出的信息都是相应的给分点，因此读题审题很重要。大到整个题目意义，小到每一个细节，都是给分点，因此信息的获取一定要全面。
2.整合信息的能力。获取了各种知识点后，考生是否能够将这些信息加以自己的理解，合理的整合到一起，是决定这篇作文成绩的关键因素。整合信息的过程中要注意：按照一定的顺序进行整理。例如08年的“庆祝母亲节”，需要考生按照事件发展的顺序，从时间、地点、人物，到事情的详细经过和结果，如果反其道而行之，一定是不可以的。再如09年的“读好书、促成长”，要按照活动的原因、目的、意义、经过、结果、自身感受的顺序行文，如果顺序颠倒，会显得很别扭。
3.表达信息的能力。其实说白了，这就是要求考生按照符合与法规定的句子，把这些整合好的信息完整无误的表达出来，句子的结构是否齐全，同一个句子的表达是否可以借助复合句，文章的开头结尾是否呼应、是否点题等，都是决定这篇文章最后分数档的关键因素。想想看，如果在开头处没有直入主题，并且写了个有语法错误的句子，再加上书写不是很清楚，这篇作文的成绩大家就可想而知了。
