Chongqing, a city with passion
Chongqing is my hometown, a city with passion. Speaking of Harbin, one may think of a vast land covered with thick snow and he is like a cold thinker; speaking of Beijing, one may think of skyscrapers with frequent gales and he is like a chatty geezer; speaking of Suzhou, one may think of some plain white houses accompanied by small bridges and rivers, and she is like a implicit girl; speaking of Guangzhou, one may then think of soft sand beaches with sun brightly shining… However, when it comes to Chongqing, I say that a lively city with beauties and tasty food constitutes the imaginary picture, and Chongqing is just like an outgoing and charming young woman.
The weather here shows passion. It shows so much passion in summer that people are even kind of afraid of the hotness. Chongqing’s high temperature in summer is well-recognized far and near. The dazzling light reaches every corner of the city allowing no secret places to escape from it. Seen from any angle, the buildings and the ground are all shining, gleaming and reflecting. If you are bold and innocent
enough, look directly at the passionate sun; but your eyes will never be strong enough to stand this direct exposure over 15 seconds; and watch out for scorching! The weather here in summer is so hot and stuffy that one may doubt every unit of air is crammed with sufficient heat. It is like an air-tight smelter, making everybody almost dehydrated.
The culture of eating here shows passion. Taking hot pot for example, the soup of hot pot is red and it contains many chillies and peppers. People dump various
vegetables and meat into it, boil it and eat it usually with many people sitting around the table. People around the table eat slowly, chat happily and toast frequently, simultaneously making easy conversations and giving best wishes. So the hot pot restaurants are usually filled of chatting voices, lighters and sounds of the crashing of wineglasses. And these restaurants usually keep open until midnight. The night cannot even weaken people’s interest and passion. Apart from hot pot, there are many common dishes all tasting hot and spicy. People here cannot live without chillies.
Their consistent love for chillies and peppers shows their consistent love for
adventure and freshness. They love life. They enjoy life. They just keep passionate in life.
And also, the girls and women here show passion. When a boy or man comes here for the first time, it is not surprising that he doesn’t want to leave later. Look at the countless beauties here: long hair, pretty faces and slender figures with fashionable clothes. The girls like walking in two or three, holding an ice cream or a snack, with true laughs and enthusiastic conversations. Towards friends, they will show care and defensiveness if their friends are bullied; towards guests or new comers, they will introduce themselves zealously and make them feel at home. They are frank and outright----they speak out their love and hatred without vicious concealing; they are tolerant and hospitable without pride and prejudice. All of these are showing their enthusiasm for fashion, eating and social communicating. Thus they are showing their passion for life.
This is my hometown, Chongqing, a city with passion and a city which I am so proud of. When the curtain of night falls down, seeing Chongqing’s lightful night scenes, I feel I can almost hear people chatting in street restaurants and see girls
shuttling among shopping malls. Thus I feel my heart is beating at the same pace with this city that never sleeps.

According to the dictionary, knowledge is information and understanding about a subject which a person has or which all people have. Comparatively speaking, wisdom refers to the ability to take advantage of your experience and knowledge in order that you are able to make sensible decisions or reasonable judgments. As we have already seen, knowledge is not equivalent to wisdom while it is on the basis of wisdom.
There is no lack of universal genius. In many cases, their lectures contain a large stock of abstract information, which may be boring and elusive for us to learn or master. The audiences would unconsciously worship them as a result of their being wealthy in knowledge. We have got to confess that they are much more knowledgeable. Nevertheless, some of these people gradually become helpless and panic when plunging in to the condition that they need to deal with something that they have not learned in the book. On the contrary, the rest do quite well in, or to say, have a gift in connecting their knowledge with the fact, then creating a completely new knowledge and solving the difficult issues smoothly. And this is what is called wisdom.
Unfortunately, compared with the education in the European countries, it is a pity that Chinese education seems to emphasize more on the teaching of knowledge, neglecting the cultivation of the creative ability. Most educators still cannot figure out why wisdom is more important than knowledge. What is worse, during the educational activities, their craze about the knowledge clouds students’ hunger of wisdom and kills their creativity. Even if you can get high grades or recite a book
backwards fluently, it just means that you have a good master of the textbooks. You probably succeed to repeat the knowledge tens of thousands of times to others. Nevertheless, it is not wisdom while you never actively think and voluntarily explore something deeper.
Certainly, I am not trying to put a damper on things or to negate the presence of knowledge, but trying to alert that knowledge is a pretty significant basis of creativity and wisdom instead of an obstacle to creating wisdom. As is known to all, knowledge is limited while wisdom and creativity are limitless. Only when the knowledge is transferred into wisdom can it shows its value.
