Teaching Plan for Module 1 (SEFC Book 1)

The second period,reading and vocabulary:“My first day at senior high”

I. Teaching Objectives

1. Language Objectives

Words :enthusiastic,amazing,brilliant,bored,embarrassed,embarrassing,attitude,behaviour,hard-working.

Phrases:live in,write down,have fun,be bored in,introduce sb.to sb.,be embarrassed at/with,help sb.do sth.,in a fun way,in other words,look forward to (doing)sth.

Sentences:Every room has a computer …as big as a cinema screen. Ms shen`s method of teaching is nothing like that of…. I don`t think I will be bored in Ms shen`s class. In other words,there are three times as many girls as boys.

2. Ability Objectives

(1)Enable students to know about the skills in reading comprehension.

(2)Enable students to use some skills to read passages.

3. Moral Objectives

(1) Help students to have a right understanding about Senior High school.

(2)Help students to build a health and friendly relationship with their classmates and teachers.

II. Important Points

1.Get students to grasp the main idea of the passage and know the passage better.

2.Master some useful words and expressions.

3.Master two important reading skills.

III. Difficult Points

1. How to analyze the text and grasp the main idea of the text;

2.How to improve students`reading ability.

IV. Teaching Methods

1. Listening, reading, speaking and practcing.

2. Fast reading and careful reading to make students learn the passage better.

3. Discussion to help students finish the concerned questions.

4. Individual,pair and group work to make students output what they`ve inputed.

Step I Revision

1. Revise last class by ask them which subject they like best and why by using the structure we`ve learnt in the first period.

Step II Lead-in

T: In the last period,you talked about yourselves,your previous schools,teachers and your new life and feeling in the new school.I think you all did a great job.And do you want to know more about the others`life in other Senior High schools?So,Let`s have a look at Li Kang`s first day at Senior High.

Step III Pre-reading

T: Before reading this passage,let`s deal with three questions.Now you are already a Senior High student,I wonder you must have found some differences between Junior High school and Senior High school?Can you share your opinion with us?You can

have a discussion with your partners,and then give me your answers voluntarily,Are you clear?

1.How to get all the students in my class to cooperate with each other and be involved in the ROLE PLAY(This task is challenging for some of the students in my class.) Step One: Check the answers to pre-class self-study.

Step Two: Lead-in

Talk about the weather in the picture on the screen

Questions:1.what’s the weather like in the picture?

2.what might happen and what should we pay attention to on such foggy days?why?

Step Three: Reading Strategy

Guide students to answer the following questions according to what they have previewed before class.

2.When did the story happen?

Step Nine: Assignments

1. Write an interview between an editor and Polly.

2. Read the article in Part B in Reading on Page 95 of the workbook.
